The London creative2025
Introduction:
“Cultural taste is often framed as a matter of personal choice, yet the reality is far more complex. As Pierre Bourdieu argues, our preferences are shaped by the social structures we exist within, from our upbringing to our education and daily experiences. Indeed, taste functions as a form of cultural capital, reinforcing the social hierarchies and distinctions within our society. But in the more interconnecting cultural society of today, how is the nature of cultural consumption evolving, and what challenges are being put to the traditional divisions between high and low culture? By analysing contemporary examples, such as the "London creative", we can see how Bourdieu’s theories remain relevant in understanding cultural fluidity and distinction in 2025.”
